Hello fellow friends, foreigners and others of the internet,
It has been a while since I have written for my site. I will be reviewing a few Drakoloid shows and Adult zone shows. Also I am looking into getting back to music reviews soon. My site seems to captivate the most audience interest when speaking about Drakoloid shows which I have been watching and obsessed with for about a decade now.
Today I wanted to bring up a topic of an observation myself and others have noticed. Drakoloid shows in general have aged better than most kids and teens entertainment shows of the past decade. Today I watched some older episodes of ARTic, High Schooled, Bad Influences, Uniquely Normal, House of Adopted Adam and even some of the more recent shows seem to fall in this catergory such as The Vox's, Adventurson Starr, Red Reverend, Midnights On-Air with John Lopez, Men of the House, etc.
I think a big reason why these shows have aged well is because they don't have a set place in time. They are not made or geared towards a specific decade. An example of an episode where it could have been made in any decade is the ARTic episode "Garage Band". The plot is about Jennifer, Kyle and Max making a band within the school grounds. Each characters outfits are different from one another it could have been made anytime. Secondly, the music Jennifer is singing sounds like something that could have been made in the 90s when Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins were in their prime. It also sounds like music in recent years from bands like Tame Impala, MGMT. The humour in this episode and show in general is on the more risque side of kids entertainment but it's not so explicit that it should be blocked off from kids. It's something everyone could enjoy. ARTic does cross lines sometimes but sometimes for the better. What I notice most about ARTic is they don't use cellphones often or technology because they stay in the present moment. Technology is the biggest sign of something that could age a show easily. ARTic avoids that.
Most kids entertainment shows of the last decade have two factors that aged them when they incorporate music or phone and computer technology. When those are put in they become a product of it's time and misses the mark of being timeless.
Another example of shows that have stayed timeless is High Schooled. The episode I would like to speak about is the premiere one called "The Search". The plot follows Derek and Ryan trying to search for Amanda Derek's little sister who went missing when babysitting. Again the characters do not wear outfits that are "trendy" or "high fashion" they are wearing normal everyday teen clothes that could of wore in any decade. This plot is very much Adventures In Babysitting but with it being done in the daytime. Simply Adventurous, fun and unpredictable plot twists specifically with a wild card character like Sean. High Schooled is not as risky with lines as ARTic but there are some adult jokes in this show. This episode was made in 2016 but it could of been made in 1991, it could of been made in 2001, it could of been made today in 2022. Just like Drake Vegas, Nick Merchant knows how to make content that will stand the test of time. I enjoy every second of watching High Schooled. I was just becoming an adult when this came out now I am more mid 20s adult and enjoy it. It's even nostalgic for me.
Today Drakoloid is still using that same formula creating a simple plot, simple character looks, lines that any age could understand and not placing trendy objects or technology within the show just for the sake of "showing off". Men of the House Drakoloid's most recent live action show is an example of that. The episode "In Search for Jobs" is a plot that could of been used in 1991, 2001, 2010 and still works now. You know why? because everybody is looking for jobs. This show is quite relatable when you are living on your own. I understand it's marketed towards teens but as a young adult this also is something I struggle with in my everyday life. Brings a sense of humour to my lifestyle.
The three animation shows that are currently on could of been made in any decade. Drakoloid animation shows are a product of their own style.
The worse thing about most modern day kids TV is that it's always about someone being famous or being a trend chaser on the internet or having an unrelatable lifestyle. Drakoloid shows have realistic ideas that any kid could relate to famous or not. They make it simple enough for anyone to understand or relate to whats going on in the show. If they are going to be unrelatable they turn into surrealism or into a fantasy world like the Drakoloid animation shows do or like several ARTic episodes have done. Kids have wild imaginations and I appreciate Drake Vegas and Nick Merchant playing into that.
I feel kids entertainment channels on youtube and on TV could learn many lessons from Drakoloid shows to create something relatable and everlasting. As an adult who is in his mid 20s I enjoy all the shows currently on the network.
